We are a play-based, nature-inspired preschool in the beautiful village of Leigh. Our preschool fosters respect for each unique child through fun, creativity and reflection.

At Leigh Community Preschool we highly value whakawhanaungatanga (relationships) where our babies and older children have opportunities to play together during the day to promote a whanau feeling. We have a strong relationship with our local Leigh Primary School where we join in on events and learn about our wider community.
Low Ratios
With ratios of 1:3 teachers for under 2 year olds, 1:6 for 2-3 year olds and 1:8 for 4-5 year olds, we offer better ratios than the Ministry of Education suggests, and in return this provides the teachers, and your child a more peaceful, attentive environment.
28 Child Max
Our Preschool is licensed for 28 children, this includes up to 6 under 2 year olds. At Leigh Community Preschool we believe in keeping our over two group numbers small, along side a small group of under two year olds per day.

We offer a play-based, nature-inspired learning programme which fosters our children’s independence and allows them to grow and learn in their own unique and individual way. We work with families to grow children who are happy, independent and secure in themselves.

We serve Leigh’s Community
Located in beautiful Leigh by the sea, we have a strong connection to our local primary school, our thriving village community and the wonders of our natural seaside environment. Our community is diverse and we welcome all families, serving the children of artists, fisherfolk, farmers, marine scientists, remote-workers and iwi. We are a non-profit community preschool. We are run by a parent and teacher lead committee who collaboratively govern the school and help us to fundraise.
